Native ART • CULTURE evening, February 7th

Kwé, Kuei, Hi!!!

Thursday February 7th starting at 10h00 pm

Café-bar l’Escalier; 552, Saint-Catherine East Street

This Thursday, February 7th, we present you Anachnid!

Anachnid (Ana-k-nid), also known as Kiki or Anna-Khesic Khway. Anachnid is a multidisciplinary Oji-Cree artist based in Montreal. Her totem animal is the spider of protection who weaves its web to catch demons that mean harm to her own kind. Her music is a hybrid between contemporary influences, indie, trap, electronic, and traditional sounds true to her native culture.

Anachnid is also known as the host of UQAM's First Nations Circle Art & Culture nights at L'Escalier. Her artistic journey began in this very same place two years ago with her team DJ Kiko, VJ Yecto and co-organizer Gustavo Zamora Jiménez. Together, they put together an electro-tribal atmosphere along with visual projections over selection of avant-garde music. After recording her first titles as a songwriter under Nomadic Music, she is now taking on a new project in collaboration with Jusst Swiim who she is will introduce on stage. There will be also DJ Silenca who joins the duo.

Jusst Swiim, previously known as Torn Petals, is of Canadian, Cuban, Spanish and Chinese descent, currently based in Montreal. His creative talents range from musical composition, graphic art and film design. Among other things, he directed the music video for La Lune, Anachnid's third single, in collaboration with Wapikoni Mobile, Godberd, VJ Yecto in summer of 2018.

DJ Silenca also known as Skitza, was born in Montreal. However, his parents are from Trinidad and Barbados. He often plays the events of Anachnid with Jusst Swiim and produces instrumental songs. His style touches all kinds of music, such as Hip Hop, House or World Music.

Through this multi cultural mix of urban music, Anachnid, Jusst Swiim and DJ Silenca form an original team, young, without compromise.

We will also have the pleasure of listening to the music of D.J. Señor Kiko who will make us dance as was the case in past evenings. Resident DJ for the Native ART • CULTURE evenings, Señor Kiko is a Montreal based DJ from Mexico City. DJ Señor Kiko presents the new electronic Latin sound with rhythms like Tribal, Tropical Bass and Nu Cumbia, taking Influence from labels records in South America such as ZZK records, Regional Label and Terror Negro.
